Black Pond from the Black Pond Trail (28 April 2013)

Temporary Trail Closures
August 2014

Several VIC trails will be temporarily closed due to Forest Management Operations between the Gravel Road, the Keese Mill Road, and Black Pond.  Work will commence immediately and proceed for approximately a month.  Logging will take place Monday through Friday, but in the interests of safety, all of the following trails will be officially closed until the project is completed.

Please do not visit the logging operation or go into the area of the cut.

The prescription for the cut includes thinning in some areas to allow better growth of remaining trees; opening up the forest canopy to allow for the establishment or release of new trees; and the creation of buffers to vary wildlife habitat, maintain shading of streams, and improve aesthetics along the trails.  Skid trails are laid out with the intention of being able to expand the trail system in the future.
