List of Mushrooms at the Paul Smiths VIC

Join mushroom expert Susan Hopkins for a casual walk in the woods to look at all mushrooms and fungi. We will discuss and identify poisonous and edible species and point out some of medicinal value too. This walk will take at least 2-2 ½ hours and be held rain or shine. All walks start at 10:00 AM. Bring a lunch if you want to stay longer to use books and reference materials provided by Susan for more study after the foray on the picnic tables under the pavilion. $15 per person for Friends of the VIC. $20 for nonmembers.

Walk dates for 2014:

Mycologist Susan Hopkins, who lives in the Saranac Lake area, is a member of several professional organizations, including the North American Mycological Association and the Northeast Mycological Federation. She has been the featured guest speaker at numerous seminars, lectures, and workshops throughout the country.

Explore the Trails

The VIC trails are free and open to the public, from dawn to dusk, spring through fall. In winter, the trails are open to cross-country skiers and snowshoers for a fee. Day or season passes may be purchased.
