Paul Smith's College VIC -- Canoe Launch

The Paul Smith's College VIC (Visitor Interpretive Center) in Paul Smiths, New York, offers scenic walking trails that showcase the natural beauty of the Adirondacks and provide unparalleled opportunities to view, hear, photograph, and enjoy nature. The Paul Smith's College VIC is also a birdwatching haven and has attracted birders from throughout the region. The trails weave through woodland and marshland, by ponds, brooks, and bogs. Many of the trails are surfaced for easy walking. Many have trail-side signs explaining natural and manmade features of the landscape. There are also several backcounty hiking trails.

This unofficial site was created to celebrate the natural beauty of the Adirondack Mountains. The Paul Smiths VIC is operated by Paul Smith's College. The VIC serves the 6 million-acre Adirondack Park as an environmental education and traveler orientation center. The Adirondack Park was created in 1892 by the State of New York. It is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States.
