Adirondack Birding Center Director Brian McAllister led a Beginner Birder Workshop on 15 July 2011. The walk was part of the Beginner Birder Workshops at the VIC. The walk began at 8:00 AM, when we met at the parking lot at the Paul Smith's College VIC. We spent most of our time on the Boreal Life Trail. It was a sunny, pleasant day. The highlight of the walk was the large number of families and juvenile birds, mainly warblers, we saw at the VIC parking lot.

At the parking lot, we saw or heard the following birds:

Nashville Warbler Magnolia Warbler
Northern Parula Red-eyed Vireo
Black-capped Chickadee Cedar Waxwing
Red-breasted Nuthatch Hermit Thrush
Blue-headed Vireo

On the Boreal Life Trail, we heard or saw the following birds:

Black-throated Blue Warbler Blue-headed Vireo
Hermit Thrush White-throated Sparrow
Lincoln's Sparrow Golden-crowned Kinglet
Palm Warbler Cedar Waxwing
Alder Flycatcher Northern Flicker
Chimney Swift Song Sparrow
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker
