Adirondack Birding Center Director Brian McAllister led a bird walk on the Jenkins Mountain Trail, the Heron Marsh Trail, and the Barnum Brook Trail on 23 May 2012. The walk was part of the "TR" Birding Series. The walk began at 9:00 AM, when we met in the VIC building at the Paul Smith's College VIC. As usual, the parking lot proved to be a major birding hot spot; we again got some great views of the beautiful Blackburnian Warbler, as well as excellent views of a male Northern Parula. Other highlights of the walk included some very nice views of the Swainson's Thrush, eating insects on a rock in the middle of Barnum Brook. We also saw a lovely Pine Warbler from the deck of the VIC building. We saw or heard a total of forty birds.

Near the VIC parking lot, we saw or heard the following birds:

Mourning Dove Blackburnian Warbler
Ruby-crowned Kinglet Black-capped Chickadee
Hermit Thrush Black-throated Green Warbler
Magnolia Warbler Purple Finch
Northern Parula Golden-crowned Kinglet
