Plein Air Art Invitational
7 August - 4 September

Adirondack Plein Air FestivalThe Paul Smith’s College VIC is hosting an invitational art show featuring paintings by area artists who work "en plein air," meaning outdoors, on location. All of the art work in this exhibit will have been produced by artists who painted on the VIC property. The 3,000-acre VIC property offers a wide variety of natural settings on various VIC trails: mountains, old growth forest, bogs, streams, marsh, beaver lodges, and Adirondack lean-tos. Paintings by artists who have taken advantage of these settings will be hung in hte VIC Great Room. Free admission.

An opening reception will be held on Friday, 16 August, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Light refreshments will be served. Free. During the time the exhibit is hanging, VIC visitors can purchase a ticket to vote for the People's Choice Award; the winners will be announced at the Plein Air Art Invitational reception on 16 August.

The exhibit coincides with "Paint the VIC Day" on 16 August. "Paint the VIC Day" is part of the Adirondack Plein Air Festival. This annual festival will be held this year from 15 August to 18 August. Artists from all over the country converge on the Saranac Lake area to attend this event. Participating artists will be out on the trails at the VIC throughout the day on 16 August. Visitors are encouraged to come out to the VIC, go for a walk, and observe the artists at work.
