Sports at the VIC: Independence Day Star-Spangled Trail Run (6 July 2014)

Trail Running at the Paul Smith's College VIC:
8 July 2015 Summer Fun Trail Run
Results

Paul Smith’s College student athlete Tyler Dezago is working at the VIC this summer maintaining trails, playing music, and helping with the Trail Running Series.  Last night, Tyler decided to challenge runners to the 5K Championship Snowshoe Course he ran last winter as a member of the College Striders.   Interestingly, for those runners who had participated in both events, the times for the summer run were consistently 10 minutes faster than those for the winter race.

All 19 runners who started the 5 kilometer run crossed the finish line.  The fastest woman was Hailey Bitner with a winning time of 20:24.  The fastest man was Joe Garso also crossing the line at 20:24; and the fastest man over 60 was Larry Zygo, with a time of 25:15.

Prizes were furnished by High Peaks Cyclery.  The Summer Trail Run Series continues every other week on the VIC trails through September 2.  These events are part of the 2015 Adirondack Trail Race Series, hosted by the Paul Smith's College VIC and High Peaks Cyclery. On alternate Wednesday nights, folks can find running races at Mount Van Hoevenberg hosted by High Peaks.
